The UCL MA in Public History enables students to consider how history is created and understood in public contexts. UCL History established this MA to combine the University’s cutting-edge historical research with our strengths in creative and innovative history in practice for public audiences.
During the programme, students will explore history in its many forms, including through museums and heritage, culture, media, technology, and video game sectors. The programme offers advanced-level teaching by leading practitioners and is delivered across the new UCL East and historic Bloomsbury campuses.
The programme provides an ideal foundation for students interested in expanding their knowledge of public history and their skills in communicating historical research to diverse audiences or those keen to pursue careers in various public-history-related sectors, including museums and archives, film, television and radio production, community heritage or education. MA Public History also provides the transferable skills necessary to pursue a career in civil service and business, along with a strong foundation for those hoping to undertake PhD research and an academic career.
The UCL East London Scholarship works to support the ambitions of East Londoners by funding the fees and living costs of eligible Master’s programmes, including this MA at UCL. For further scholarship opportunities, use the UCL Scholarships Finder.
