LJMU’s School of Law will challenge your intellect, advance your legal skills and boost your professional contacts. Our range of postgraduate law courses will prepare you for a number of roles in legal and related professions as well as for a career in academia if you want to pursue your interests through further research. Many courses also offer graduates from other disciplines the chance to convert their existing qualifications and embark on a career in this exciting and challenging sector.
All of our postgraduate programmes are recognised or accredited by the legal profession’s main regulatory body, the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA), and will provide you with a range of routes to enhance your career or to train you to become a solicitor. Many courses are also accredited by the Bar Standards Board.
The School of Law has excellent links with the Liverpool Civil and Family Courts, and Queen Elizabeth II Law Courts as well as other local and national legal and criminal justice agencies. Such links ensure that our courses remain professionally-relevant and enable you to forge useful contacts within the sector. Students who wish to start a career in advocacy or legal representation also have the opportunity, throughout their studies, to join the School’s well-established Legal Advice Centre, which offers pro-bono legal assistance in a range of areas, including employment and family law, wills and administration.
